1st Lt Allen was a pilot of a OE-1 Cessna Observation Aircraft attached to Headquarters Battery, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division. During a reconnaissance mission over enemy terroritory on January 18, 1953, his aircraft was shot down. A parachute was seen afterwards. Intially Allen was listed as Missing in Action. On June 4, 1951, his stauts was changed to Killed in Action Body Not Recovered.

His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing in Honolulu HI.
