Born in Boones Mill, Va., to Charles and Alice Kinsey, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later owned and operated Kinsey and Benton Motors for over 40 years.
Loved ones recall that he was a collector of antique cars and an avid stock car racing fan who also owned and raced his own cars.
He is survived by children Alice Kinsey, Trudy Kinsey, Gail Pillow and Hugh Kinsey Jr., stepchildren Melody Bryant and John Gump and five grandchildren.
His wife, Eleanor Kinsey, died in 2002. Three brothers and a sister also predeceased him.
After a private family service on Sept. 30, he was buried at St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
