William Thomas Amerson Jr., 69, a former owner of Bill Amerson Trucking Co., died Thursday in a local hospital. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will be in Lambert Cemetery.

Mr. Amerson was born in St. Stephen, a son of William T. Amerson and Audrey Joye Amerson. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Sumter and attended Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ann Lambert Amerson; three sons, Michael T. Amerson, Reggie Amerson, and William D. Amerson Jr., all of Georgetown; two daughters, Terri Martin of Myrtle Beach and Julie Ann Cantly of Kingstree; four sisters, Nellie Julius and Betty Brooks, both of Pennsylvania, Rose O'Levah of California, and Francine Amerson of Kentucky; and seven grandchildren.
