Philip Monson was born in Jun 1828 in Staffordshire, England.

He married Emma E. Carey, they immigrated to Ottawa City, Ontario, Canada, and there they had three children: Claud Wilmot, Ethel and Pauline R.

In 1886 they immigrated to the United States, settling in Deposit, Delaware Co, NY. There they continued to grow their family, having four more children: Edith, Mary, Arthur Carey and a child who died in infancy.

Philip was an artist.

Claud became a teacher and then principal at the school; Ethel and Edith became teachers; Pauline worked at the bank and Arthur took over the family farm after the death of his father.

Philip died in 1905 at Deposit, Delaware Co, NY.
