Chris Akers has returned from the Reuben ranks and accepted a position in the Erie office.

Night watchman Chris Akers will conclude his labors in that line May 1. Who his successor will be is not determined yet, but with the horde of tramps who congregate here it becomes absolutely necessary to employ some one for protection. We haven't heard a word of objection to Mr. Akers and believe he performs the duties of his position to the satisfaction of all reasonable minded subscribers.

Chris Akers of North Judson, who has been working as bill clerk in the Erie office at Hammond, was badly and probably fatally hurt while trying to board a Monon freight train in the yards Tuesday.

Chris Akers, mention of whose injury by a Monon train at Hammond was mentioned in these columns last week, died as a result of them Friday evening. The remains were brought to North Judson for burial. The funeral was in charge of the Odd Fellows Sunday.
