Tillie was born on October 5, 1915 in St. Wendel Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Michael and Frances (Kascht) Fruth. She married Anton "Tony" Wasner on February 6, 1934 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Tillie was employed as a sales associate at Sears from 1964 until she retired in 1984. She lived in St. Joseph most of her life and was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, Council of Catholic Women and Daughters of Isabella. Tillie was also a member and past President of the Senior Citizens and the St. Joseph American Legion Auxiliary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Mathilda C. "Tillie" Wasner, age 94 of St. Joseph who passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at the Assumption Nursing Home in Cold Spring. Reverend Joseph Feders, OSB will officiate. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. The Senior Citizens and the Council of Catholic Women along with the Daughters of Isabella will pray at 4:30 p.m. followed by the St. Joseph American Legion Post #328 Auxiliary at 5:00 p.m. and parish prayers at 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her sons, Gerald of Minneapolis and Bill of St. Joseph; daughter, Debbie (Rocky) Teske of Avon; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anton; daughter, Darleen MacKenzie; brother, George; and sisters, Betty Mayer, Theresa Winczewski and Catherine Fruth.
