DOBSON, Douglas LeRoy "Doug" - 77, New Glasgow, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 7, 2007, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. John's, N.L., he was a son of the late Eldon LeRoy and Mary Rose (O'Leary) Dobson. Prior to retirement in 1980, he had been employed as a Commercial Traveler and as a life insurance representative for Royal Insurance. He was an avid Red Sox and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He greatly enjoyed following the local Weeks AAA Midgets hockey team for many years.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Margaret Edith "Peggy" (Keillor) Dobson; children, Brenda Simone, New Germany; Kirk Dobson, Riverton; Lynne (Phillip)Browning, Telford; Pat Hunter (Parker DeCoste), New Glasgow; Scott (Rose) Dobson, Truro; grandchildren, Kris Milsom, Melissa and Matthew Hunter; brother, Lt. Col. Jack Dobson (ret'd), Victoria, B.C.; brothers-in-law, Ramsey, Fred and Jim Keillor; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Dobson; sisters-in-law, Maude Dobson and Ruth Keillor. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation by request of the deceased. A private graveside service will be held in Abercrombie Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Doug's memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements entrusted to P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
