Blackgum--Elton Abbott, 70, of Vian died Sunday at Vian Nursing Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blackgum R.L.D.S. Chruch with the Revs. Bill Guthrie and Bruce Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Box Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
Abbott was born Aug. 22, 1913 in Hamilton, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Opal, of the home; three daughters, Fay Holt of Vian, Linda Toon of Bristow and Lana Galatian of Sapulpa; one son, Gary, of Vian; six sisters, Lena Porter of Dumas, Ark., Elsie McCray of Lumberton, Miss., Edith Phillips and Dorothy Graves, both of Memphis, Tenn., Pauline Wispeck of Batesville, Miss.,, and Betty Lou Hadens of Yazoo, Miss.; four brothers, Arlin of Dawson City, Ky., Eulas of Memphis, Albert of Charlotte, N.C., and Herbert of Tallahassee, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
