John E. Boyd, age 73 years, died Jan. 11 at his home at Drakes Creek where he had resided most all of his life, being engaged for many years as a blacksmith until failing health compelled him to close his shop. Funeral services were conducted Friday by Rev. Benner Davis and Rev. Jake Drake at the Drakes Creek Baptist church and interment was made in the cemetery there. The arrangements were in charge of the Bruce Brashears Undertaking Company. Mr. Boyd was born May 22, 1866, in the Mt. Pleasant community where he grew to young manhood. He was married Sept. 6, 1885, to Belle Johnson. Eleven children were born to them. Mrs. Boyd and the following children are surviving: Ezra and Walter of Fullerton, Calif., Logan of Placentia, Calif., Albert of Wichita, Kans., Mrs. Grace Glenn of Seal Beach, Calif., Mrs. Tennie Johnson and Mrs. Altia Cornelison of Wesley.
