They farmed for 2 years in Furnas Co, NE before returning to Hamilton Co, NE. Ruben worked at various jobs until 1941, when he became a road patrol operator for the county for 11 years after which time he returned to farming until his retirement in 1974. Aftr his retirement, the couple moved to Marquette, NE. He was baptised and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg, NE.
They had 4 sons; Robert, Roger, Ronald and Raymond.

Reuben was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran Faith in St. John's Lutheran Church in Kronborg.
Four sons were born to Reuben and Annie: Robert of Moorhead, Minnesota, Roger of Aurora and Ronald and Raymond both of Marquette.
He is survived by his widow, four sons and daughters-in-law and 11 grandchildren; brother, Ingvard of Roseville, California; three sisters, Dagmar Andersen and Thyra Rasmussen both of Aurora and Olga Wolff of Solvang, California. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
His death occurred on Friday, December 22, 1978 at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 3 days.
