He was born May 22, 1923, the son of the late Chauncey and Mabel (Miller) Grogg. In March of 1956, he married Maxine Buckmaster, who preceded him in death on June 17, 2003. Mr. Grogg was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean War, a 1942 graduate of Kunkle High School, member of Ney Methodist Church and life member of VFW of Napoleon. He was a life member and former district commander of the American Legion Post 300 of Napoleon, former member of Masonic Lodge of Napoleon and had been employed at Napoleon Spring of Archbold.
He is survived by his three daughters, Jane (Dave) Brown of Bryan, Robin (Gale) Hesselschwardt of Ney and Patricia (Rich) Rickart of Bryan; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and three great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his brother, John Grogg; and sister, Mary Ashton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Mast-Mock-Hoffman-Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with Rev. Ron Adkins officiating.
