Arlene A. Fisher, age 85, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Van Horne, died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha following an extended illness.
Private family graveside services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Arlene was born on June 22, 1922 at Big Grove Township, Benton County, the daughter of John E. and Anna (Karg) Schadle. On October 11, 1939 she was united in marriage to Gerald Fisher at the St. Andrew Lutheran parsonage in Van Horne. The couple farmed in the Van Horne area until retiring and moving to Van Horne in 1975. In November of 2004 Arlene moved to Cedar Rapids to live with her Grandson, Ricky and Sandra Zahn. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling in her younger years.
She is survived by her grandson, Ricky Zahn and his wife Sandra and her great grandson Zachary Zahn, all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerald, her daughter, Janice Zahn, two brothers, Alvin and Marvin Schadle and her sister Frances Hartkemeyer.
