Robert Bernard Bruning was born March 20, 1921 in Portland, OR. He served in the US Navy. Bob met his future wife, Ann Marie Barry, while he was on leave attending officer's training school in New York. They were married on April 12th 1947. He was a mechanical engineer for the paper industry and a teacher at Portland Community College for 20 years. He retired in 1973. He was a member of St. Agatha Catholic Church and past president of Willamette/Columbia Parkinson's Association. When Bob became stricken with Parkinson's disease he and his beloved wife founded Willcope, the first major support group and foundation for Parkinson's
patients and their families. Ann and Bob traveled through Washington and Oregon setting up local chapters and leading by example. Ann was the main caregiver for Bob as the disease progressed.

Bob and Ann had six children, Kevin, Bharti, Barry, Brian, Maureen and Annmarie.
