In 1929 her family moved to Northeast Louisiana and at fifteen, in that same year, she married Roscoe Byrd in Forest, Louisiana. She was a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana,
and religious services will be at her home church, Calvary Baptist Church, Denham Springs, conducted by the Rev. Clovis Sturdivant, and her nephew, the Rev. Robert Butler.
Burial in Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery, beside her husband.
Survived by her mother, resident of Oak Grove; three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Louise) Dardenne, Maringouin, Mrs. Wayne (Linda) Comeaux, Denham Springs, and Mrs. Mike (Debra) Pfeifer, Littleton, Colo.; two sons, William Delton "Bill" (Patsy) Byrd, Denham Springs, and Robert Felton "Flip" (Bobbie) Byrd, Zwolle.
Four sisters, Mrs. Buddy (Hilda Raye) Payne, Sterlington , Mrs. V. W. (Ina Pearl) Fairchild and Mrs. Kenneth (Janie) Worley, both of Oak Grove, and Mrs. Earl (Lois) McCoy, Denham Springs;
Five brothers, Curtis (Betty), R.M. (Bonnie), and W.T. (Nadine) Butler, all of Oak Grove, R. Hilton (Omah) Butler, St. Gabriel, and W. Herman, Goodwill.
Mama to her six children and Mamaw to her thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was known for growing beautiful garden flowers and houseplants, fishing in her pond, making delicious chicken n' dumplings and chocolate pie, always with a cup of coffee nearby.
Preceded in death by her husband; her father; an infant son, Harold Welton Byrd; a granddaughter, Terry Ellen Byrd; a brother, A. Herston Butler; and two sisters, Bonnie Dee and Monnie Lee Butler.
Pallbearers will be Charles Ray Thames, William Delton "Billy" Byrd, Jr., Darrell Stanley Dardenne, Robert Felton Byrd, Jr., Louis Martin, Jr. and Dennis Sheffield. Honorary pallbearer will be Doug Jones.
