From 1868 to 1870 Student at Weaverville College in Weaverville, North Carolina. Hezekiah Gudger then studied law with Judge J.L. Bailey and was admitted to the Bar in 1871. In Madison County, North Carolina, Mr. Gudger began practicing law. In August 1872 he was elected to the Legislature of N.C. as a Democrat, re-elected in 1874 and 1876. 1884 elected to the State Senate. U.S. Consul General in Panama, 1897 to 1905. Justice of the Canal Zone Supreme Court, 1905 to 1914. Mason and Knight Templar Buncombe County, North Carolina; Hezekiah was the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge for the State of North Carolina for two years, from Jan 14, 1891 to Jan 11, 1893.
