Sgt Manning died as a Prisoner of War during the Korean War, Manning was a medic with Medical Company, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. Manning was captured by enemy forces in N. Korea, while tending wounded comrades on December 1, 1950. He died in a prisoner of war camp on May 31, 1951. His body was not recovered. Manning's name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing.
