Born September 18, 1925, in Manchester, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Margaret Baney Danner.
Mr. Danner was a retired painting contractor in York County and outlying communities for over 35 years.
He was an US Navy Veteran of WWII having received numerous citations and recognition awards for his participation in the Battle of MidWay and the surrender of the Japanese in Tokyo Bay.
He was a member of Maytown EUB as well as a member of the Wellsville Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Danner was a member of the Zereditha Masonic Lodge #451, of York. Ed also served on the Northern York County School Board for numerous terms, coached various baseball teams in Dillsburg, including Little League and VFW ball for over 30 years, and was a member of the Wellsville Fire Company where he received a long term service award.
Ed enjoyed his family, hunting and fishing, but above all, he was a man who unselfishly gave of himself for the benefit of others expecting nothing in return.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 63 years, Kathleen I. Butcher Danner; sons: Edward R. Danner, II, of Marion, Ohio, Paul D. Danner, of Gastonia, NC; Joie L. Danner, of West Chester, Ohio, and Mark A. Danner, of Lewisberry; daughters, Faith I. Hartman, of East Berlin and Lizbeth A. Harvey, of York; a brother, Robert Danner, of Dover; a sister, Ida Mary Kohr of Manchester; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Interment was in Warrington Friends Cemetery, Wellsville.
