Son of Benjamin Franklin Bache.

Grandson of Sallie Franklin Bache and Richard Bache.

Great-grandson of Benjamin Franklin.

During the War of 1812 he served as a Surgeon's Mate in the 32nd United States Infantry, being mustered in on May 17, 1813. Transferred as Surgeon of the 2nd United States Infantry regiment, he served until he resigned on July 1, 1816.
