Lucille Mae Baer Campbell (98) passed peacefully on July 24, 2006 at Crestwood Care Center in Ogden, Utah. She was born May 17, 1908 in Providence, Utah to Joseph Richard Baer and Gertrude Leishman Baer.

She married her lifelong sweetheart, Theron " Dick", Mathews Campbell, on July 10, 1930 in the Logan LDS Temple. They spent 75 wonderful years together until Theron's passing on July 19, 2005.

Lucille enjoyed her life very much. She loved her friends and loved the association she had with them. She loved her beautiful gardens especially her roses. Her vegetable garden was amazing and always plentiful. The fruit room proudly displayed all of her frugally preserved produce. She loved to work with her hands whether it be in her gardens, knitting, quilting or crocheting. She was a lifelong avid reader and particularly enjoyed biographies and historical fiction. As a child, in her fathers orchard, she would climb a favorite apple tree to read. She and her husband traveled to Europe and Canada visiting children.

She was educated in Cache Valley schools graduating from South Cache High School in 1926 and graduated from the USU LDS Institute later in life.

She was a charter member of the Modern Mothers Club of Providence, a captain of the Elizabeth Mathews Campbell camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and a member of the Women's Literary Club. She was a devout member of the LDS church fulfilling many callings through the years--Gospel Doctrine teacher for 11 years, Relief Society President, and a Temple worker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters: Greta Smith, Dorothy Plummet, Lois Waite. Her brothers Legrande, Marcell and a great-granddaughter also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brothers Owen, Wesley, Lloyd and Scott and her sisters Juanita and Donna. Her children are: Richard B. of Grace, Idaho; Kathryn Kelly (Neal) of Torrington, Wyoming; Louise Hill (Clair) of Liberty, Utah; Garr B. of Salt Lake City; Jeneane King (James) of McLean, Virginia. Daughters-in law: Laura Lou Lamb Campbell of Smithfield; Joyce Pollard Campbell of Salt Lake City. She has 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the Crestwood Care Center and IHC Hospice for their wonderful care they gave mother during her last few months of her life.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, July 31, 2006 in the Providence Fourth Ward Chapel, 155 North 100 East in Providence.
