Mr. J. W. "Shorty" Boyd, age 71, of Loraine, died Friday, January 7, 2000, in a
Lubbock hospital. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 9 at 22nd and Austin
St. Church of Christ with Kerry Cain officiating. Arrangements are under the
direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Boyd was born March 9, 1928 in Mitchell County. He was a farmer and rancher and very active in county agriculture. He married Adeline Rogers on January 1, 1951 in Colorado City. He was a member of the Lightfoot Church of Christ in Loraine.
Mr. Boyd was preceded in death by a sister, Charlene Lahti and two grandchildren, Zachary Boyd and Sara McEndree.
Survivors include his wife, Adeline Boyd of Loraine. three sons, Kent Boyd and Don Boyd, both of Loraine and Alan Boyd of Aztec, New Mexico, two daughters, Elaine Dickey of Littelfield and Gina McEndree of Sand Springs, three sisters, Mamie Lee Boyd of South Carolina, Mane Montgomery of San Antonio and Allene Hill of Colorado City, a brother, Gerald Boyd of San Angelo, and nine grandchildren.
