Funeral services for James Madison Simmons III, 48, of Wylie were held Sept. 30, 2009, at Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Kreymer/Hughes Cemetery.
Chaplain Maxie Whitworth officiated.
Mr. Simmons died Sept. 27, 2009 in Richardson.
He was born Oct. 5, 1960, in McKinney to James Madison Simmons Jr. and Virginia Ruth Smith.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Wylie. He served in the US Army and was Private First Class in Quartermaster field. His personal awards National Defense and Army Basic Training ribbon.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia Ruth Starnes of Pilot Point; brother, Allen Starnes of Pilot Point; sisters, Vickie Stewart of Denton and Sharon Simmons of Wylie; 11 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.
He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Lourie Ann Rice and Debroah Lynn Simmons and one brother Stephen Dewayne Starnes.
Arrangements were under the direction Allen Funeral Home of Wylie.
