Redd, who died Monday of influenza followed by typhoid pneumonia, followed his son in death last night. The father expired at 11:25 p.m., a victim to influenza. He was 71 years 4 months and 10 days old. He died at the residence of his son at West Washington street.

The son, Thomas E. Redd, who was 38 years old, became ill on October 7, his father becoming ill the day preceding. However, the father was not forced to his bed until after his son had become seriously ill. Mrs. Thomas E. Redd, wife of the deceased son, is in a serious condition at the residence suffering from influenza. It has not developed into pneumonia.

Mr. Redd was proprietor of a feed store at East Washington street, which, with the aid of his son, he had conducted for the last seven years.

He was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, June 7, 1837 [sic]. He came to Sangamon county shortly after the close of the civil war, and for several years was a farmer east of the city. He moved to Springfield in 1890, later returning to the country. He again took residence in the city in 1896. His wife died in 1915.

Surviving the decedent are a brother, Joseph Redd of Ohio; a son, A. W. Redd, assistant circulation manager of the State Journal; four daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Eaton and Mrs. Julia Reeves, both of this city, and Mrs. Sarah McGann, Wichita, Kan. and Mrs. Anna Morrison of North Dakota.
