Pansy was born on September 21, 1914, in Millsap, Texas to Lee Lanham and Maude Liza (Thomas) Richards and passed away on October 10, 2009, in Lubbock, Texas. Pansy had lived in Dora for 84 years and married Edward Lauvell Evans, on May 1, 1935, in Dora, who has since preceded her in death. She worked the fields, picking cotton and pulled broomcorn. They had a Grade A Dairy for years. She loved to crochet. Pansy was a long time member of the Dora Church of Christ, and was always in church every time the doors were open. She was also a longtime member of the Dora Senior Citizens. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and all around friend to everyone. Everyone liked "Ma-Maw's cooking. All the family called her "Ma-Maw". She made rolls for the Senior Citizens meals every since they opened. She was known for her hot rolls, chicken & dumplings, chocolate fudge, and banana pudding.
Pansy is preceded in death by her husband and a grandson, Ed Bowley; a brother, Lynn Richards, and 2 sisters, Marie Richards and Averial Burkett.
She is survived by a son Thurston Evans of Dora, 2 daughters, Mona Kay Crow and husband Noel of Morton, TX and Marie Hale and husband Douglas of Lubbock, TX. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Paul Richards and wife Bernice of Carlsbad, Mack Richards of Dora, and Lee Richards Jr. of Carlsbad. Also surviving Pansy is a sister, Rosemary Shackleford and husband Bo of Dora. Also surviving Pansy are 8 grandchildren, Nola Miller, Susan Coffman, Lynne McLaughlin, Lane Evans, Leigh Hays, Scott Hale, Lonna Vasquez, Julie Hale, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
