Death
The common unconquerable foe of life has again taken from our midst one of our oldest citizens Lewis C. Christian born in Tennessee Feb 23, 1842. He came to Morgan County, Missouri when but a boy. He spent the remainder of his life one of the plain straight forward farmers of Morgan County. His home for the past few years had been with his oldest living daughter, Mrs. E. Amende, of Stover, where he died Nov 11, after a brief illness of two weeks, though he had been failing for about three years. He married and lived with Mary Jane Wilson through a period of about 28 years. She preceded him to the grave about ten years. To that union were born eight children, five of whom live to mourn their parents death. His children mourn not his death as one gone, but as one at rest to live again. He died a member of the Christian Church. So live that when thy summons comes thou canst lie down to pleasant dreams.
