Wayne Jay Blanton 53, of Blue Creek, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at his residence.

Wayne was born Dec. 24, 1955, in Portsmouth, to the late Jay and Betty Lucille Blanton. He had worked at Yorke Doliner Trademark Metals.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Blanton, whom he married July 8, 1974, in Florida.

Wayne is survived by one son and his companion, Robert Dwayne Blanton and Patricia Scrivner Lowe of West Portsmouth; two brothers, Billy Blanton of Cocoa, Fla., and Tony (Karen) Blanton of West Portsmouth, one sister, Judy Pope-Blanton of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews; one special nephew, Billy Joe Blanton Jr.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth, with Anthony Hoffer officiating, and interment in Friendship cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour before the service on Thursday.
