MR. ROBERT LIONEL ALEXANDER- a native and long time resident of Mobile , AL , born April 14, 1924, departed from this life on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at his residence. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as a Merchant Marine. He sold life insurance for numerous years and also served as a security guard for the Mobile County Health Department. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Juanita Allen Alexander, his parents, Lionel Alexander Sr. and Charleta Jackson Alexander, his sister, Portia T. Alexander Carroll, and brother, Carmen C. Alexander. He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Angela Alexander (Roy) Cuthkelvin, Mobile, and Allison Alexander (Dexter) Gamble, Atlanta, GA; two sons, Robert L. Alexander Jr., Mobile, and Michael A. Alexander, Atlanta, GA; one sister, Mary M. Alexander Shaw, one brother, Lionel (Velma) Alexander Jr.; six grandchildren, Royshanta, Roy, David, Rachel, Autumn and Gabrielle. He is also cherished by a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing Monday June 8, 2009 from 12-5pm at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and continued on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 9-10am at Most Pure Heart of Mary Church, 304 Sengstak St. Mobile, AL 36603. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am with Father Patrick S. Healy SSJ, Celebrant. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to Saint Mary's Home, 4350 Moffett Rd.
