Essie Brothers
COMMERCE – Funeral services for Commerce resident Essie Brothers will be today at 2 p.m. at Jones Memorial Chapel with burial in Rosemound Cemetery.
Cliff Greenslade and Rev. Allen E. Brown will officiate.
Mrs. Brothers died Sunday at Citizens Hospital of Commerce at the age of 86. The daughter of Bob and Dollie Neal Thurman, she was born March 7, 1906, in Rattan. She married Sanford D. Brothers in Hopkins County on March 8, 1924. She was a retired housekeeper at East Texas State University and member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, A.J. Brothers of Fort Worth; three daughters, Doris Ramsey of Commerce; Maudine Moody and Chris Lee, both of California; one brother, Buck Thurman of Texico; one sister, Kate Bennitt of New Mexico; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Kenneth White, Lonnie Wilson, Roger Ramsey, Tommy Ramsey, Timmy Ramsey and Clifton Burrow.
Jones-Walker and Son Funeral Home is in charge.
