GEORGE W. FILSON
George W. Filson, age 55, died at 7:20 o'clock Thursday evening at his home, 1934 Grand avenue, after several months' illness from cancer. A short time ago he was taken to an Indianapolis hospital, but did not submit to an operation. Up until a year ago Mr. Filson was a resident of New Lisbon. He was born and reared there and since his residence in the city had operated a store. He is survived by this widow and eight children, Mrs. Merle Henley of Milton, Paul, Fred, who is in the aviation service, Miss Reba, Merrills, John, Miss Carolyn and George Filson.
The funeral services will be conducted at the late residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will take place in the New Lisbon cemetery.

NEW LISBON, Ind., March 18 - The remains of George W. Filson, who died last Thursday evening at the home in New Castle, were brought to this place for burial Sunday afternoon. The funeral services proper were held at the home in Newcastle and were in charge of Rev. Schoonover and the Masonic lodge, of which he was a member. There was also a short service at the cemetery conducted by the T.O.R.M. of this place. George spent his entire life in New Lisbon with the exception of the past year, which he spent in Newcastle, where he was engaged in the grocery business. He was well known for miles around, having been engaged in the lightning rod business for several years. The family has the sympathy of their many friends at this place.
