Providence, Utah: Marna Marie Peterson Johnson, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished and adored wife to J. Darold Johnson left this mortal existence peacefully Saturday, February 25, 2006 at home surrounded by her loving family and devoted husband.

She passed following an exemplary, long-ending and courageous battle with Parkinson's and arthritis.

She entered this world on January 21, 1921 in Logan, Utah as the first of three children born to Anthon (Tony) Peterson and Marie Taylor (Lehi) Peterson.

Marna loved learning and attending schools in Logan. She graduated from Logan High and went on to attend and graduate from Utah State Agriculture College in 1940. She graduated with a teaching certificate and B.S. in Home Economics fro the College of Family Life. Marna was a member of the service oriented Chi Omega Sorority. She learned persistence and to work hard at her family's Peterson Shoe Store on Main street during the depression.

It was at U.S.A.C. that she met the love of her life and her eternal companion, J. Darold Johnson. They were married in the Logan Temple on May 17, 1943 one day previous to the newly wed groom entering the military Naval service in WWII. Darold served as a medic.

Marna spoke precisely and articulated flowing thoughts exactly - leaving little doubt how she treasured the gospel of Jesus Christ and cherished, always nurturing, her testimony of the restored gospel.

She faithfully served many callings in Relief Society, Primary and Young Women's. The calling she dearly prized above all others was as a mother and wife, and ‘Elect Lady', a true Daughter of God as she ceaselessly and lovingly supported her husband in his many callings and church responsibilities.

Together they raised four children: Paul Darold (Jeri) Johnson, St. George, Utah; Anthon (Rosemarie) Johnson, Pleasant View, Utah; Craig Richard Johnson (deceased as a young man) and Marcia (Rex) Hendricks, Providence, Utah.

Marna unwaveringly taught her children the ever-present power and strength gained through personal prayer and strict self-discipline in all pursuits worthy of attaining for the well being of the family. She personified charity, service and later long-suffering.

Marna always encouraged appreciation and the joy of great music, art and literature and its uplifting, spiritual influence for good.

Mother and Father enjoyed sharing the beauties of Heavenly Father's creations and the tremendous joy of family, service and sharing the truths of the Gospel with their children and others.

Marna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol, and young son Craig.

She is survived by her brother Gordon (Joan) Peterson; by her tender and caring husband, J. Darold Johnson; three children; twelve grandchildren and their spouses and fifteen great grandchildren and special loved ones Bob and Kathleen Eliason and family.

We would like to thank the IHC Hospice and all nursing staff for their dedicated and tender care. We would also thank Dr. Salisbury and staff for their generous and kind care.

A viewing will be on Thursday, March 2, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at the Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 East 1800 North, North Logan.

Funeral services are under the direction of Bishop Olson, Providence 4th Ward and will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2006 at the Chapel, 155 North 100 East, Providence with another viewing from 11:30-12:30 prior to services.

Good-bye sweetheart. This world has lost a cherished, gentle light. Until we meet again.
