Mary's middle name has been shown as Frances (obituary) and as Francis (Lillian's birth record). Which is correct and which is in error has not been resolved.

County Pioneer Passes At
Home Two Miles South

Mrs. Mary Frances Abbott, 74, wife of J. W. Abbott and pioneer in Beckham county, died early this morning at her home two miles south of the city after a serious illness of five days. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the First Presbyterian church with the final rites being read by Rev. Rollie Reed, minister of the community church.

Mrs. Abbott came to this section with Mr. Abbott from Navarro county, Texas, 31 years ago and with her husband homesteaded on land south of Carter. For the past six years Mr. and Mrs. Abbott had lived at their present residence.

The death of the aged woman was due to an attack of paralysis which she suffered last Friday, however, she had not enjoyed good health for the past six months.

Mrs. Abbott was born in Tishomingo county, Tennessee,(sic) July 11, 1857 and was married 51 years
ago to Mr. Abbott. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Surviving Mrs. Abbott besides the husband are six children, three daughters and three sons all of whom live at this place and near by cities. These are:

Mrs. John F. Marshall, 310 South Oklahoma street, and Mrs. M. V. Joseph, 216 South Washington street, and M. D. Abbott, all of this city, Mrs. H. C. Newby, and J. P. Sayre, and P. E. Abbott, of Abbott. of Granite.

Burial will be made in the Fair-lawn Cemetery. Killough-Hullum funeral directors are in charge.
