A 19 year old Clarksville, Marine which was scheduled to return to the United States in August upon completion of his tour of duty in Vietnam was killed in action, according to an announcement by the Defense Department.
Lance Cpl. Henry C. Ettel was killed in combat at DaNang in Quang Province when he was struck by enemy missile fragments.
Ettel was a member of the Frist Bapist Church in Clarksville and had attended Clarksville High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Ettel, Clarksville, a brother, Roger Dale Ettel, and a sister, Portia E. Ettel both of Clarksville; three half-sisters, Mrs Laura Leo Rothermich, Clarksville, Mrs. Roy Docks, Muncie, and Mrs. Herschel Cochran, Salem, IN; and four half brothers; George Ettel, Hopeville, Ga. and David Ettel, Ralph Ettel and Kenneth Ettel, all of Muncie.
