Robert Blackwell, 85-year old resident
of Mitchell, died early Friday morning
at the home of Mrs. Nancy Lambert where
he had lived the past sixteen years.
A native of Lawrence County and a retired
farmer, he was born October 9. 1875,
the son of *Pearl* and Rachel Berry
Blackwell. He was married
to Lucy hall who preceded him in death.
Survivors are two sons, William Blackwell
of Indianapolis and Paul Blackwell of
Elkhart, and a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte
Fender of Chicago. He also had seven
grandchildren and two brothers,George
Blackwell of Mitchell and Wesley Blackwell
of South Dakota.
Mr. Blackwell was a member of the First
Christian Church here. Funeral services
were conducted Sunday afternoon at the
Chastain Funeral Home with the Rev.
J. J. Thomas of the Church of God officiating
Burial was in the Mitchell Cemetery.
