Mr. George E. McCreight, Sr., 82, of Pickens, husband of Josephine McCreight, went to be with his Lord on May 20, 2006.

Mr. McCreight was the son of the late John Robert Levi and Nannie Miller McCreight. He was a retired self-employed painter and a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He served in the United States Navy, a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, V.F.W., and Hejaz Shriner where he raised $600,000 for the Children's Hospital.

Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons and their wives, Larry D. and Sandy McCreight, George E. McCreight, Jr., both of Greenville, Timothy R. and Ginger McCreight and Mark and Cyndie McCreight of Easley; four stepsons and their wives, Tommy and Dorothy Cantrell, Frank and Kathy Cantrell, Audley and Beverly Cantrell, Joey and Kim Cantrell; grandchildren, Brandon McCreight and Chaz Poole; 10 stepgrands; and five stepgreat-grands.

Services are to be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2006, in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday night May 22, 2006, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials should be made to the Shriner's Children Hospital 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605. Flowers will be accepted.

The family is at the home of his wife, 564 Holly Springs School Road, Pickens, and at the home of a son, Mark McCreight, 108 Hearth Stone Court, Easley, SC 29640.
