On Wednesday Nov. 19th, Mr. William G. Maxwell of Markham passed away at his home on Church street following a lengthy illness. Born in Scarboro, the deceased operated a farm at Locust Hill and later moved to Markham. For some twenty years the late Mr. Maxwell held the position as Markham Township Road Superintendent. He was identified with St. Andrews United Church, Markham.
Besides his wife, the former Ida Tran, the deceased leaves to mourn his passing, five daughters, (Nelda) Mrs. Earl Graham, (Nora) Mrs. Seaman Woods, (Muriel) Mrs. John Coulson and Helen of Markham and ( Dorothy) Mrs. Harry Binstead (sic) of Toronto. There are also two sisters, Mabel and Mrs. Clyde Muckle of Toronto and one brother Emmerson of Queen Charlotte Island.
Funeral service was held at the Dixon Chapel, Markham on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. G.H. Thomas of St. Andrew's United Church with interment at Elmwood Cemetery. The pallbearers were Mr. Charles Reesor, Mr. Jack Torrence, Mr. Russ Burkholder, Mr. Howard Hagerman, Mr. Jack Pike and Mr. Charles Hooper.
