Lorene Dykeman
Lorene V. Dykeman, 78, of Alton, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 1988 at Blu-Fountaln Nursing Home in Godfrey.

She was born in Brunot, Mo., daughter of the late James and Catherine (Fowler) Chilton.

On June 15, 1929, in Wood River, she married Vernon J. Dykeman. He died in 1974.

Surviving are a son, Fred Dykeman of Alton; three daughters, Shirley Crabtree and Ruth Gross, both of Alton, and Mary Rowden of Pontoon Beach, 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mabel Acord of Wood River, Ethlyn Reed of Waynesboro, VA., and Maude Cole, Pat Hannekan and Myrtle Fischer, all of Alton.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.

At the First Christian Church in Alton, visitation will continue 10 a.m. Friday until time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. J.W. Jordan will officiate.

Burial will be in Alton City Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the organ fund of the church, where she was a member, or the Easter Seal Society.
