Mrs. Sarah Walker Dies in 95th Year (sic: she was 92)
Mrs. Sarah Ann Walker, who was blind for 60 of the 95 years of her life, died Wednesday evening (July 30, 1941) about 6 o'clock at the home of her son-in-law, M. C. Wilson, and her granddaughter. Miss Mildred R. Wilson, Gulfport. Until about two months ago, Mrs. Walker did her own reading, writing, mending, and other household tasks. She was born in Iowa in 1846 and has made her home on the Coast for about 6 years. She was a lifelong member of the Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at Quigley's Funeral Chapel with Reverend Paul Lee officiating. Interment will be in the Hattiesburg cemetery.
Mrs. Walker is survived by three sons, W. A. Edgar, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Charles Edgar, New London, Iowa, and Frank Edgar, Santa Barbara, California; one sister, Mrs. John Crane, Mt. Pleasant, and one brother, Alva Houseman, Mt. Pleasant, and a large number of grandchildren.
