OBITUARY :
Mr. M. CARL RUDY, 61, of 15 S. Grant St., Waynesboro, PA, died at 10:20 P.M. Thursday, January 17, 2002 in his home. He had been in failing health since August 2001 and critically ill for the past month.

Born December 15, 1940 in Georgetown, MD, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Charlotte M. (Glass) Rudy. He lived his early life in Georgetown, moving to Waynesboro with his family at age 2.

Mr. Rudy graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1958.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until 1962.

He and his wife, Mrs. Debra Y. (Brechbiel) Rudy, were married on December 15, 1973 in Leitersburg, MD. He moved to the present residence in 1969.

Mr. Rudy was employed as a loan officer at the First National Bank in Waynesboro, retiring on December 1, 1998 after 35 years of service with the bank.

He was a member of the Church of the Apostles, Waynesboro. He was also a member of Joe Stickell American Legion Post #15, Eagles Club, Inc., and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #731, all of Waynesboro.

He was an avid Washington Redskins fan, enjoyed collecting baseball cards and toy matchbox cars and trucks, and going for walks. He volunteered as a school mentor at Fairview Avenue School, Waynesboro.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sisters, E. June Fogle, San Diego, CA and Bonnie R. Wolff, Waynesboro; one brother, Monte E. Rudy, Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 21, 2002 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro with Pastor Carol A. Kipe officiating. Burial will be held in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. Sunday evening in the funeral home. An Elks Memorial Service will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201, or to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
