Uriel Lee "Skip" Akers, Jr., a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a resident of Mustang, Oklahoma, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 5, 2009. He is the beloved husband of Joyce (Johnson) Akers and the father of Kisha (Akers) Dixon and Neva (Akers) Morris.
Skip had retired from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant and also recently retired from the Federal Aviation Administration.
He leaves his memories to his cherished siblings: Alvin Smith, Kindal Johnson, Lillian Haydel, Andrell Rodriguez and Jodie Smith Martin; his daughters: Kisha Dixon and Neva Morris; his beautiful granddaughters: Rianne and Ciara Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clay "Dooley" Smith and Thelma Smith; and his sister, Tanya Bazille Thompson. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave., New Orleans, Louisiana. Rev. Charles Ewell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., until 11 a.m.. Interment: Saint Louis Number 3 Cemetery.
