Jill was born June 23, 1953, in Springfield, the daughter of Cecil "Tuck" and Virginia G. Atterberry Belton. She married Forman Hardwick on November 2, 1985.
Jill retired after 31 years of service from the Illinois State Board of Education as a food and nutrition specialist. Jill was a member of Jerome United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Northern Illinois University.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
She is survived by her husband, Forman Hardwick of Springfield; 2 sons, Alex Hardwick, a student at University of Iowa, and Andrew Hardwick, a student at Illinois State University; her father, Cecil "Tuck" Belton of Springfield; 1 sister, Linda (husband, John) Ahlen of Maumelle, Arkansas; 1 niece, Leah Welker; 1 nephew, Derek (wife, Shanna) Welker; 1 great-nephew, Will; and 1 great-niece, Barrett.
Cremation rights will be accorded.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009, at Jerome United Methodist Church with Pastor Paul Black officiating. A memorial reception for family and friends will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jerome United Methodist Church or Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
