Florene Baltzell, 70, died Monday, November 15, 2004 in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Alice Florene Baltzell was born December 26, 1933 in Niotaze, Kansas to Walter and Alice Norris. Florene grew up in Coffeyville and attended school there. She graduated in 1951 from Field Kindley High School. She was past Patron of the VFW Women's Auxiliary Post # 1022. She enjoyed crocheting and needlework. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Florene married Elba Baltzell on April 5, 1953. They moved to Dewey, Oklahoma in 1965 where Florene worked for Landers Brothers Grocery until the store closed in 1983. Florene worked at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri for 5 years before retiring in 1991. They moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1994 to be closer to their sons.
Preceeding her in death were her parents, Walter and Alice and one brother, Charles. She is survived by her husband Elba of the home, one sister, Marie of Boulder Creek, Ca., two sons, Jerry and wife Linda, of Carlsbad and Jim and wife Sandra of Andrews Tx. She is also survived by three grandsons, Chris, Matt and Joshua and one grandaughter Katie.
A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004, at the Penwell-Gabel Graves Chapel 1117 W. 8th Street in Coffeyville.
Interment will follow in the Penwell-Gabel Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 1-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to VistaCare Hospice, 611 N. Canal St., Carlsbad, NM. 88220.
