Mrs. Sabina Dyke Passed Away as Result of Burns Sustained October 19.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sabina Dyke, 87, pioneer Cotton county resident, were conducted at the First Baptist church here Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. George C. Hutto, pastor, officiating. Interment was made in the I. O. O. F. cemetery with Harley-Pearson funeral directors in charge.
Mrs. Dyke passed away in Wichita Falls hospital Sunday as a result of burns which she sustained October 19 when her clothing was accidentally ignited. She had been in the hospital since the accident.
Mrs. Dyke is survived by five sons and daughters, Mrs. Mattie Butler, Mrs. Susie Southerland, J. A. Dyke, Loy Dyke and D. V. Dyke. She is also survived by two sisters residing in Missouri and Indiana.
She was born on February 2, 1847, in Green county, Tenn., and passed away at the age of 87 years, 10 months and 7 days. She was one of a family of 11 children. In 1877 she was married to William Dyke. The this union seven children were born, four sons and three daughters. She moved with her husband and family in 1899 from Tennessee to Texas. In 1907 the family moved to Oklahoma and has resided in and near Walters since that time.
Mrs. Dyke was converted early in life and joined the Lutheran church. She was a devoted Christian mother and her death came as a distinct loss to her many relatives and friends.
