Ruth H. Novotny, age 86, of Houghton Lake, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Ruth was born on February 20, 1923, in Toledo Ohio to John H. and Florence E. (Lehmkuhle) Kleman.
Ruth married George P. Novotny Sr. on July 1, 1944, in Toledo Ohio and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
In 2003 they moved to Houghton Lake after residing in Allen Park for 52 years.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nancy Marie Novotny; sisters, Mary Elizabeth (Paul) Thomas and Margaret Jane (Margie) Kleman.
She is survived by her loving husband, George P. Novotny Sr. of Houghton Lake; daughter, Mary Catherine (Timothy) Hughes of Prudenville; three sons, George, Jr. (Linda) Novotny of Ft. Myers, Florida; Lawrence Jon (Sandi) Novotny of Allen Park; Thomas Joseph Novotny of Edgewood, Kentucky; grandchildren, Alan (Karen Palermo) Hughes; Eric Hughes; Sarah (John Kintz) Novotny; Nathan (Haley Upchurch) Novotny; Nicholas Novotny; Andrew Novotny; David Novotny; Amy Novotny; great-grand-daughter, Emma Novotny and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Anthony Cureton officiating. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
