Dale E. Morey, a security guard at the Arizona State Prison, was one of two guards slain by convicts on Friday, June 22nd. They were found dead in cellblock 3 following a disturbance about 9 p.m.
Mr. Morey was born April 26, 1936 in Sidney, Ohio. He worked in law enforcement for 10 years with the Ontario OH police department before coming to Arizona two months ago as a security guard at the prison.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of Casa Grande; five sons: Michael, David, Mark, Steve and Robert; two daughters: Lori Ann and Julie; his mother, Elizabeth Morey, of Crestline, OH; and a brother, Richard.
Recicitation of rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Casa Grande Mortuary Chapel. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Father Ault will officiate. Burial will be in Eloy Memorial Park.
Security officers from Arizona State Prison will serve as pallbearers.
