The Daily Sentinel-Tribune, Bowling Green, OH., Monday, November 17,1924 - "Death Relieves Her Suffering" - Mrs Emma Lutica Van Buskirk, wife of Andrew Van Buskirk, died Saturday, November 15, at the home of her son-in-law, Harvey Lawrence, No. 512 Derby Ave. Her death was due to dropsy which she had patiently suffered a long time. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at ten o'clock at the Manville Ave. N.B. Church,Reverend Stimmell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery,Bowling Green, OH. She was born in Antwerp, OH., August 3, 1867, and was 57yrs, three months and 12 days at the time of her death. Her marriage to Mr. Van Buskirk occurred at Antwerp on February 19, 1885, and for nearly forty years they had traveled life's road together. They have resided in Bowing Green for the past twenty years. She leaves to mourn her death her parents John & Susanna(Sines)Hawkins, of Antwerp; her husband: these six children: Mrs. Harvey(Susan Lavern) Lawrence of this city; Mrs. Albert(Haley)Wagerman of Detroit; Edward and Thomas Van Buskirk, of West Branch, Michigan; William and Henry of Bowling Green; her brothers: Edward Hawkins, of Detroit; Herbert and Bernard Hawkins of Antwerp; sisters Mrs.Chris Bortman of Ft. Wayne,Indiana, and Fred Kafyish of Kansas City, Missouri. She also leaves many friends.

My mother had told me that her grandmother had a goiter & as you can see from the photo it is evident that she did.
