On July 11, 1870 as Charles James Kinsolving, he married Rachel Clagett at Prince George's County, Maryland.

Charles Kinsolving was the son of Rev. O.A. Kinsolving and his wife, Julia. Rev. Kinsolving was the long time rector of a parish in Middleburg, Virginia. Charles attended the Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia. On January 18, 1862 he entered the Virginia Military Institute. He withdrew on August 18, 1862 without graduating, most likely to enlist in the Confederate States Army, where he served as a Private in Captain R.M. Anderson's Company of Virginia Light Artillery, 1st Company, Richmond Howitzers.

Was Brother Of Rector Of Old St. Paul’s
Charles J. Kinsolving, brother of Rev. Arthur B. Kinsolving, rector of Old St. Paul’s Protestant Episcopal Church, died yesterday at the Emergency Hospital, Washington, after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held from his apartment in The Portner today at noon. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters and a son. His brothers, besides Dr. Kinsolving of Baltimore, are Bishop George Herbert Kinsolving, of Texas; Bishop Lucian Lee Kinsolving, of Brazil and We sleigh Kinsolving, of Richmond, Virginia.

Mr. Kinsolving was born in Alexandria, Virginia. At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted in the Confederate Army, although he was only 14 years old. After the war he went to Washington to live, where he established a large seed business.
