Clay Franks was born three miles south in Elmer,Missouri.Born on 8 Sept 1903, south of Elmer, he was the son of Justus and Laura Bell (Payton) Franks. On 18 June 1928, in Macon , Missouri, he was united in marriage to Ola Enyart, who preceded him in death on 27 Feb 1999. Also preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Air Force 1st Lt. Bobbie Clay Franks, who was killed in a plane crash at Great Falls, Montana in 1954, twobrothers, Ezra and Ira Franks, and three sisters, Alma, Meda, Vella. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Louise Franks of Elmer, Missouri,two grandchildren; Robert Franks of Kansas City, Mo, and Phyllis Smoot and her husband Danny of Atlanta, Mo. Two great-grandsons; Donny and Adam, of Atlanta, Mo, one sister-in-law, Blanche Franks of Elmer, Mo, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends. Clay had lived all of his life in the Rockcreek community, south of Elmer, where he was engaged in farming. He was a member of the Elmer Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a. m. on Tuesday 14 March 2000, at the Elmer Baptist Church with Reverend Willie Smith officiating. Musical selections "Face to Face" and "In the Garden" were sang by Judy Lene, with Mary Smith pianist.Burial was in the Elmer Cemetery, Elmer, Mo. Pallbearers were Robert Franks, Danny Smoot, Donny Smoot, Adam Smoot, Frank Pike, and Jerry Thomas.
