Ruth V. Heggeness was born November 14, 1927, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the youngest daughter of Ole and Vera (Pearsson) Heggeness.
Ruth graduated from Moorhead High School and she attended Moorhead State Teachers College where she was a member of Pi Mui Phi Sorority.
Ruth married Darrell D. Geraghty April 14, 1950, in Moorhead, where they made their home until they moved to Fargo, ND, in 1979. Ruth worked in the Moorhead Public School System for twenty-three years and retired as administrative secretary to the superintendent of schools.
Ruth died Wednesday, October 8, 2003, surrounded by her family, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, at seventy-five years of age.
Ruth is lovingly survived by her six children, Ginger (Tim) Lenzmeier, Pueblo, CO, Dan (Pat) Geraghty, Moorhead, Jeff Geraghty, Brooklyn Park, MN, Susie Geraghty, Fargo, Tom (Michelle) Geraghty, Moorhead and Jill (Gary) Lindemoen, Fargo; a sister, Lorrain Rothe, Minneapolis, MN; sixteen grandchildren, Scott (Becky), Brian (Sandra) and Craig (Krista) Lenzmeier, Tony (Tessa) and Jessica Geraghty, Adam and Jay Geraghty, Ben and Katie Boatz, Megan, Shane, Nickolas and Jacob Geraghty, and Brenna, Alexa and Marissa Lindemoen; and five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Joshua, Nicolle, Danielle, and Owen Lenzmeier.
Visitation for Ruth was Friday, October 10, 2003, from 6 – 8 PM, with a prayer service at 7:30 PM, in Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo. Her funeral will be Saturday, October 11, 2003, at 3:30 PM, in Olivet Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead.
