The Mail of Woodland, Wednesday, Aug 5, 1923, pg. 1
Word had been received here of the death of D. C. Hubard, 78, in San Francisco, a pioneer of this section who resided in Woodland until about twenty years ago. Funeral services are to be held in this city and interment will be in the Woodland cemetery by the side of a daughter and two wives who are buried there. Mrs. John Johnston and Mrs. J.H. Yaxley of this city are Neice of the deceased and T. J. Hutchison is a brother in law. Mr. Hubbard was a native of Missouri, and when quite small crossed the plains with his parents, who first settled near Baskerville, and later came to Woodland. The father for some years, was a proprietor of the old Exchange Hotel here. Later the son went into business for himself, owning a small music shop where he sold pianos and musical instruments of all kinds. Up until a few months before his death he owned a music room in Vacaville, and also was connected with the Kohler and Chasse house in San Franciso. Three sons survive him, who are Arthur, Elmer and Chester, all of San Francisco. Elmer Hubbard is a fine musician and has been heard quite recently in concerts broadcasted by radio. A sister, Mrs. Jane Tilly of Fresno,is the last survivor of the generation of Hubbard's to which the deceased belonged. Mr. Hubbard was married twice, the second wife passing on about the year 1908. His body will arrive today at 11 o'clock for burial, services to be in charge of the Krellenberg Company.
