Clifford E. Bales died Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Bloomington Hospital. A resident of that city, he was 88.
Mr. Bales was born October 6, 1910, in Monroe County’s Gilmore Ridge area to Samuel and Lydia Chandler Bales.
He was married to Dorothy Archey. She preceded him in death.
Mrs. Bales’ family hailed from northern Brown County.
Mr. Bales had worked as a self-employed contractor. He had also worked at the Showers Furniture Factory.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley A. Deckard of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Kimberly Deckard-Holmes and Daran Deckard, both of Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren, Stacey Ratts and Sandra Hacker, both of Bloomington.
The Reverend J. Bruce Kelley led a service Wednesday afternoon, May 26, at Day Mortuary in Bloomington.
Burial was in Brown County’s Unity Baptist Church Cemetery.
