TROY A. COOK, JR.

Services for Troy A. Cook, Jr. were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 30th, 2006 at the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service with Gisbert Gebard officiating. Burial followed in the Chelsea Cemetery.

Troy passed away Wednesday, May 24th at the age of 64.

Born April 13, 1942 at Lafayette County, Mississippi to Troy A. and Dorothy (Blaker) Cook, he spent his early years there. The family later moved to Memphis, TN, and it was there that Troy graduated from Southside High School. He began his working career at Film Transit and Dixie Land Paper before becoming a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines.

During this time of his life he met Donetta Lee, and the two were united in marriage on May 3, 1970. Because of his job with Greyhound, the couple made their home in many communities in different states. Following retirement from Greyhound, they established a home in Inola. At this time, Troy went back to school and received his Associates Degree in Broadcast Engineering, and was employed with Rogers State University, working as a Transmitter engineer with their TV station.

They have made their home in Chelsea for the past seventeen years. Troy enjoyed fishing, but received the most pleasure working at different church activities. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Troy also had found time to serve on the Chelsea Planning committee.

Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his mother Dorothy Cook of Chelsea, his loving wife Donetta; his children Barri Allayn Cook and wife Diane of Escondido, CA, WesLee Guy Cook, Jeffrey Adam Cook of Okla. City, Helena Leanore Cook of Okla. City, Rodney Cook of Oklahoma, Jody Dee Cook of Chelsea, Brian Joe Cook of McAlester and Mikhael David Cook of Pryor. Also surviving are two granddaughters.

Troy was preceded in death by his father, a brother and one sister.
